    People First originated in Denmark in the 1960's. In

    1974 Oregon citizens went to Canada to a people first

    conference. They  were so  thrilled with   what  they 

    learned there, that they came home and started a

    group of their own. The first chapter was started by

    5 people in Oregon, in 1974, and now there are many,

    many members in hundreds of chapters nation- wide.
