Anyone who has a developmental disability can be a

member of People First. A developmental disability is

some kind of problem that affects a person's ability to

hear, see, speak, communicate, take care of themselves,

or learn that happens before the person is an adult. Many

people with developmental disabilities used to be labeled

"mentally retarded".
